πŸ™ A Venerable Monk Recovers from More Than 20 Years of Hand Weakness and Numbness πŸ™

πŸ”Έ A 57-year-old venerable monk from Mandalay had been experiencing numbness and weakness in his right hand for approximately 20 years.

πŸ”Έ About five years later, similar symptoms gradually developed in his left hand as well.

πŸ”Έ Despite taking medications continuously, there was no significant improvement, and his symptoms remained largely unchanged.

πŸ”Έ Interestingly, although he was still able to carry relatively heavy objects without significant difficulty, he experienced hand tremors and difficulty controlling his fingers when performing fine motor movements.

πŸ”Έ Over time, the numbness progressed from the back of his neck down toward his chest, while numbness in both hands continued to persist.

πŸ’ In May 2026, an MRI examination revealed spinal cord compression at the C5–C6 level due to cervical spondylosis, along with bilateral foraminal stenosis.

πŸ§‘β€βš•οΈ Therefore, at Phyathai 3 Hospital, the procedure ACDF (Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion) at C5–C6 with a Standalone Cage was successfully performed by Dr. Theerachai Phanitphong, Consultant Neurosurgeon.

✨ Following the surgery, the monk’s symptoms improved significantly. He expressed his relief, saying, β€œI feel much better and more comfortable now.”

✨ Today, we had the opportunity to visit and pay our respects to the venerable monk and to offer him a small basket of fresh fruits. We were truly delighted and deeply grateful to see his smile and his improved health.

πŸ™ On behalf of Phyathai 3 Hospital Myanmar (PanAsia Medical), we sincerely pray for the venerable monk’s continued recovery, good health, longevity, and strength to continue serving the Buddhist faith and community for many years to come. πŸ™βœ¨
